We call this blog “Burger Wars”.
It’s true, finance executives spend a great deal of time on critical measures like improving bottom line impact, reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and finding ways improve financial visibility. But they also like their burgers.
When my husband and I first got married in Austin we loved to scout out the best burgers in town. That was a staple of our Sunday afternoon. It probably had something to do with ending a weekend of live music and adventures in downtown Austin. Sometimes you need to comb the hair of the dog that bit you!
Now that we have two very active young daughters, we don’t frequent restaurants as much as we want. Our dining experience usually consists of our kids wiggling out of their seats onto sticky floors to explore catsup, and testing aerodynamics of the French fries. Parenting can be a very humbling experience.
Personally, I love going to Hut’s Hamburgers. The best time to go is after a Consero Longhorn tailgating party. The fans are always happy and there is plenty of taxidermy on the walls to keep any kid entertained. Get the Buddy Holly. The traditional stack of ingredients is simple perfection.
I wanted to ask some of our client’s where they get their best burger. Here’s what they had to say!
Steve Fendley with 5-D Systems said, “No question about it – I go to Casino El Camino on 6th Street.” He tells us it is an interesting downtown “Austin” bar, full of its own character. When we asked him what makes their burger so special, Steve said, “they have incredible slow-cooked ¾ pound burgers that are unlike any burger I’ve ever tasted. If you don’t want a whole ¾ pound, that’s fine, they throw away whatever portion of it you don’t want – that part is pretty funny.”
Lucas Walters with Sparefoot votes for Hopdoddy Burger Bar. He tells us, “a really fantastic burger is the Primetime, but I also love the variety of burger options, atmosphere, and selection of craft beers.” The customization at Hopdoddy gives you an eating “experience”. Yes, it is crowded but it is also very hip. It’s worth the wait.
Denny Baginski with Clarity Solution Group goes to Elevation Burger for the best all natural burger. He likes the organic ingredients and says, “you truly can taste the difference, especially the grass-fed beef they use.” If you like the Farm to Table movement you will like Elevation Burger. Their vision is to serve authentic, sustainable prepared food that is better for you and better for the environment.
Ed Taylor with The Collective Group comments, “tough question as I have several favorites. When guests come to town, I am likely to treat them to Hopdoddy Burger Bar. You can’t beat the artisan burger.” However, if you are looking for the best value burger, then P. Terry’s gets his vote. “They are almost as good at one-third the price and they have better fries!” Ed tells me that P. Terry’s ranks high on his list because they are “just a high quality honest burger, served fast in a clean environment. You never leave feeling hungry or ripped off. Oh . . . and the fries . . . “
