CFO – Boston Managing Director

We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our firm as the Boston Managing Director to serve our clients in an advisory capacity. In addition the Managing Director must be able to articulate the firm’s value proposition in a sales support and business development role. Finally, the Managing Director should be well known among service providers and peers in the local business community.

The candidate must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations. The candidate should also be a strategic thinker and understand how to “partner with the business”. The ideal candidate will have also served in a significant client service role during their career.

The position reports to the Vice President of CFO Services.

Responsibilities

Assist and advise clients:

    • Financial planning and budgeting
    • Cash management and funding requirements
    • Raising investment and debt capital
    • Board and investor relations
    • Strategic planning and financial models
    • Ensure compliance with the law and company’s policies

Sales and business development:

      • Support firm sales personnel as a subject matter expert; drive business level conversations with prospective clients
      • Build and nurture relationships with referral partners
      • Leverage personal network to generate sales opportunities
      • Raise firm visibility in the community through volunteer and networking organizations

Practice development:

        • Develop and document best practices and processes
        • Train and mentor other team members
        • Identify product offerings

Requirements

          • Proven experience as CFO with large and small company experience
          • CFO experience in a portfolio company of an institutionally backed investor (PE or VC)
          • Industry experience in software, SAAS and services preferred
          • In depth knowledge of venture capital and venture debt fundraising practices
          • Mergers and acquisition experience preferred
          • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
          • Ability to strategize and solve problems
          • Strong leadership, organizational and project management skills
          • Excellent communication and people skills
          • Manager level experience or above in client service roles i.e. consulting or public accounting
          • An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers
          • CPA and/or MBA is a plus
